Gouverneur group research published in Science

A research team led by Professor Veronique Gouverneur has developed a new bio-inspired catalytic manifold for enantioselective carbon-fluorine bond formation from alkali-metal fluoride. This is achieved by merging hydrogen bonding and phase transfer catalysis to make fluoride soluble, and therefore reactive, in organic solvents. The concept of "Hydrogen Bonding Phase Transfer Catalysis" (HB PTC) is of broad scientific interest as it could have application beyond delivery of fluoride.
