Open Microsoft Excel by double-clicking the application icon, and you should be presented with a new, blank worksheet. If you are not, use the New command on the File Menu to create a new one.
Make sure that you have the standard toolbar visible (as a toolbar or a floating palette). You can use View/Toolbar menu command to set that if necessary.
