Department of Chemistry   University of Oxford

Graduate Induction Programme

September / October 2011

Welcome on behalf of myself, academic colleagues and support staff to one of the largest and most exciting Chemistry departments in the world. We are all here to make sure your research in Chemistry is productive, safe and enjoyable. To help achieve this, it is a formal requirement that you:

  • read the Safety Manual below
  • attend the induction days as shown on the programme below
  • complete the Departmental Registration Form (page 5 of the induction pack and hand it in at the induction day registration sessions)
  • complete the Safety Code of Conduct document (page 6 of the induction pack) and have it signed at the induction sign off session

The Code of Conduct document is particularly important. You, your supervisor and the Chemistry Safety Officer are required to sign it to confirm that you have:

  • attended the induction sessions
  • read and are in accord with the safety directions described in the safety manual
  • read the Safety Code of Conduct document and accept the obligations set out in it

Please note that you cannot start work until these forms have been signed and returned.
