LECTURE 4: HOMOGENEOUS CATALYSIS
General Comments:
- A catalysts increases rates of both forward and reverse reactions

only useful if
is favourable
- Homogeneous catalysts are good because they can be studied spectroscopically
but poor because separation from the products is a problem.
- Homogeneous catalysts must have easily generated open coordination
sites, in general must be ML4
(D4h)
or have readily dissociable ligands.
- Homogeneous catalysts are generally much more selective and tuneable.
