The Internet

The Internet is not a single network; instead, thousands of individual computer networks distributed throughout the World are joined together to form a 'network of networks'; this is the Internet. The links between the component networks vary from high speed fibre optic cables to low-tech phone lines and modems. as the number of participating networks grows so do the power and possibilities offered by the Internet.

Direct connection to the Internet is now possible for almost any computer in any college or department within the University.
