Chemical Animation - Animated GIFs - the GIF89a standard

Animated GIFs are standard GIF89a files with multiple images and timing information.

To create a spinning molecule:

Create your molecule, here I used CambridgeSoft Chem3D Pro, and saved the molecule spinning about the y-axis as a 24 frame Apple QuickTime movie. I then imported this into GifBuilder (a free GIF89a animation program for Macintosh), set the GIF to loop and with a frame delay of 12/100 sec between frames to make the animation smooth. Then saved as a 8 bit colour file, 39K in total size

Pretty but Chemscape Chime can do this and has the chemical data as well.
