The Department of Chemistry is looking for a Deputy Electronics Workshop Supervisor. Reporting to the Electronics Workshop Supervisor, you will be part of a team responsible for the design, development and construction of specialised electronic equipment used in teaching and research laboratories.
You will support the design, development and construction of electronic equipment as well as general tasks including fault diagnosis, testing and calibration of electronic equipment, You will also act as a deputy to the Electronics Workshop Supervisor, providing support, training and management of employees as required in the absence of the Electronics Workshop Supervisor.
You will have a formal qualification, HNC, or equivalent in an appropriate subject and have a good working knowledge of the theory and application of safety regulations in a workshop and preferably laboratory environment.
You will work well in a team, be able to communicate with people at all levels, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and demands and a willingness to extend your technical skills as required. You will have good levels of computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook and Computer-Aided design (CAD).
The start date for this post will be 2nd October 2017.
