Postdoctoral Research Associate in Physical Chemistry (Professor Susan Perkin)
Grade 7: £31,076 - £38,183 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Susan Perkin on a research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) for a period of 3 years. The project involves experimental measurements of surface forces across liquid nano-films. Find out more about the Surface Forces research group at: Perkin Research.
You should have a PhD in experimental physics, physical chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment.
This role involves developing methodology and analysis in the direction of out-of-equilibrium systems and/or the effect of non-uniform fields on confined liquids. It will involve a strong experimental element as well as data analysis, modelling, and interpretation.
Duties will include managing own academic research and administrative activities and carrying out experimental research including measurement of surface forces using the surface force balance, and subsequent data analysis using appropriate methods and software.
The post will be based in the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QZ.
The post is available from 1 October 2017 and must be taken up by 31 March 2018.
