Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Harry L Anderson on a project funded for a period of 22 months by the Wellcome Trust.
The project involves multistep organic synthesis, photochemistry and microscopy, and it is a collaboration with Professor Ilan Davis (Department of Biochemistry) and Professor Christian Eggeling (Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine).
Duties will include managing own academic research and administrative activities; this involves small-scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of research and undertaking comprehensive and systematic literature reviews and writing up the results for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
You should have a PhD in Chemistry, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment. Expertise in the organic synthesis is essential. Expertise in any of the following areas would also be advantageous: (a) investigation of the synthesis, photochemistry and photophysics of organic pi-systems, (b) synthesis and characterisation of water-soluble compounds, (c) analytical and semi-preparative HPLC techniques, and (d) fluorescent dyes and fluorescence microscopy.
The post is available from 1 January 2018 and will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
