Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organometallic Main Group Polymerisation Catalysts  (Professor Andrew Weller)
Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 p.a

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organometallic Main Group Polymerisation Catalysts to work under the supervision of Professor Andrew Weller on a research project funded by the EPSRC for a period of 33 months. The project will focus upon the development of new organometallic catalyst systems for the dehydopolymerisation of amine–boranes to from novel polymeric materials: polyaminoboranes. There will be a particular emphasis on the materials characterisation of any new polymeric materials formed and the elucidation of the mechanism of dehydropolymerisation.

You should have a PhD in Chemistry in Organometallic or Coordination Chemistry or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment. The candidate should have expertise in air sensitive organometallic chemistry, single–crystal X-ray diffraction, multi nuclear NMR spectroscopy and you may also have significant experience in the synthesis and characterisation of polymeric materials synthesized using transition-metal catalysed routes. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities, to supervise other team and lab activities when asked and to coordinate work to meet specified deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
