Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Chemistry  (Professor Stuart Conway)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Stuart Conway on a research project in collaboration with Professor Wolfgang Fischle (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology KAUST) for a period of 12 months.

The project involves the synthesis of phosphatidylinositol-based probes to understand the role of the phosphatidylinositol phosphates in the nucelus. Find out more about the Conway research group at: http://conway.chem.ox.ac.uk/Welcome.html/.

You should have a PhD in organic chemistry, or have submitted your dissertation prior to taking up your appointment. You should be expert in the area of organic synthesis, ideally with experience in carbohydrate chemistry and/or protecting group manipulations. The role will suit someone who is interested in applying their chemical knowledge in a biological context and is keen to work on a highly collaborative project.

Duties will include managing own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines and collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally presenting papers and posters.

The post will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and will likely involve at least one research visit to KAUST.
