Electronics Technician  (Mr Kevin Valentine)
Grade 5: £24,983 - £29,799 p.a.

The Department of Chemistry is looking for an Electronics Technician. Reporting to the Electronics Manager, you will be part of a team responsible for the design, development and construction of specialised electronic equipment used in teaching and research laboratories.

You will support the design, layout and manufacture of both single and double sided printed circuit boards as well as general tasks including fault diagnosis, testing and calibration of electronic equipment, assisting in the training of technical staff in workshop procedure and equipment. You will also help maintain the electronic equipment and contribute to the smooth day to day running of the departmentís workshops.

You will hold a BTEC, HNC or equivalent in an appropriate subject and have a good working knowledge of the theory and application of safety regulations covering workshops and laboratory environment.

You will be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and work collaboratively as part of a team. You will have proven ability to manage competing priorities and demands and a willingness to learn new skills as required. You will have good levels of computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook and Computer-Aided design (CAD).

This post is full-time, permanent and available immediately. Whilst the role is a Grade 5 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 4 with the responsibilities and salary adjusted accordingly.
