Postdoctoral Research Associate - Nucleic Acid Chemistry  (Professor Tom Brown)
Grade 7: 31,604 - 38,883 p.a.

Applications are invited fora Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Tom Brown on a research project funded by EPSRC (IAA initiative) for a period of 12 months. The project involves synthetic organic chemistry and nucleic acid chemistry. Find out more about the Brown research group at www.chem.ox.ac.uk/ http://research.chem.ox.ac.uk/professor-tom-brown.aspx

You will hold a PhD in Organic Chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up the appointment. You should be willing to learn new techniques in nucleic acid synthesis and the biology of nucleic acids.

You will have expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and the role will include chemistry, biophysical studies, biochemical studies and biological evaluation.

You will be required to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will be able to adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, and contribute ideas for new research projects.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
