SUPPLEMENTARY SUBJECTS

A number of Supplementary Subjects are available each year, on an optional basis.

The Supplementary Subject examinations for all subjects except the Modern Languages comprises one paper and are taken at the end of Hilary Term; which results in fail/pass/distinction. The Modern Language examinations are taken at the end of Trinity Term. A Pass gives exemption from one year's practical requirement in one laboratory; a Distinction gives extra credit for the final assessment in Part II.

Although it has been usual for Supplementary Subjects to be taken in the Second Year, they may be taken in any of years 2, 3 or 4, with a maximum of three in total.

Candidates who get a Pass may not retake the same Supplementary Subject Examination.

Listed below are the Supplementary Subjects on offer this year together with a synopsis or information of the course:

Quantum Chemistry

Aromatic and Heterocyclic Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Chemical Crystallography

Chemical Pharmacology

History and Philosophy of Science

Modern Languages

Please note that the exams for the first four subjects will take place in 9th week Hilary Term
