    Particles of Light

Example.

The orange light in the previous diagram provides one example of a wavelength calculation. As another example, what is the wavelength used by the FM station KPFK in Los Angeles, which has a frequency of 90.7 megahertz (MHz), or megacycles (Mc) per second?

Solution.

= 90.7 Mc or 90.7 x 10 cycles

= c /
= 3.00 x 10 cm / 90.7 x 10 cycles
= 330 cm cycle

KPFK has a broadcast wavelength of 330 cm or 3.3 meters.
