Professor Christiane Timmel has been awarded the 2026 Bruker Prize by the Royal Society of Chemistry's ESR Spectroscopy Group, recognising her outstanding contributions to electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy and to the fundamental understanding of spin dynamics in chemical and biological systems.
One of the field's most prestigious international awards, this year's Bruker Prize recognises Professor Timmel's pioneering use of combined optical and magnetic resonance spectroscopies to probe magnetosensitive reaction kinetics in biological systems and synthetic molecular models, together with her significant contributions to understanding spin polarisation and spin delocalisation in supramolecular structures for molecular electronics.
The prize further recognises Professor Timmel's commitment to fostering teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, and her leadership in advancing ESR spectroscopy and spin chemistry nationally and internationally through mentorship and scientific leadership.
As part of the award, Professor Timmel delivered the 41st Bruker Prize Lecture at the ESR Spectroscopy Group's annual international meeting in Colchester in April 2026.
