Dr Pol Hernández Lladó has been awarded a prestigious Novo Nordisk – Oxford Fellowship to support his research in metabolic disease.

This highly competitive 3-year postdoctoral fellowship is part of the Novo Nordisk – Oxford Fellowship Programme, which aims to foster the next generation of leaders in diabetes and cardiometabolic research.

Through the fellowship, Pol will develop a molecular toolkit for the selective labeling of endogenous GLUT4, with the goal of uncovering elusive aspects of its trafficking, including its regulation and context-specific compartmentalisation. These findings will pave the way for the development of GLUT4-based therapeutics that alter its distribution, offering new treatments for metabolic diseases. The work will be carried out in the Russell Lab and in collaboration with the Novo Nordisk Research Centre Oxford.
