Prof Valeria Nicolosi is presented with the Peter Day Prize by Prof Stephen Faulkner, Head of Chemistry.
On 27 October 2026, Oxford Chemistry welcomed Professor Valeria Nicolosi from Trinity College Dublin to deliver the RSC Peter Day Prize Lecture.
Prof Nicolosi discussed her work developing liquid-phase routes for the production and processing of two-dimensional nanomaterials, and how these approaches can be exploited to bridge the gap between fundamental materials science and functional devices.
Prof Nicolosi is Chair of Nanomaterials and Advanced Microscopy in the School of Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin. Her research focuses on the synthesis, liquid-phase exfoliation, processing and advanced electron-microscopy characterisation of low-dimensional materials, with particular emphasis on their application in energy storage and functional devices.
The Peter Day Prize is awarded by the Royal Society of Chemistry for outstanding contributions made by a mid-career scientist in any area of materials chemistry.
