Three new Professors join Oxford Chemistry

Three new Professors join Oxford Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce that three new Professors will be joining us today and over the coming months:

Michail Stamatakis

Michail Stamatakis

Professor of Computational Inorganic Chemistry, in association with Lady Margaret Hall.

Michail is joining us from UCL today, and his research focuses on heterogeneous catalysis and is inspired by the urgent need for chemical technologies that promote a sustainable future for contemporary societies.

Michael Cotterell

Michael Cotterell

Associate Professor of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, in association with Corpus Christi.

Michael comes from Bristol University and also starts in his new role today. His research concerns laser-based spectroscopy of aerosol particles (mesoscale solid or liquid particles suspended in a gas, with particle diameters ranging from 10 nm to 100 µm) to improve understanding of their optical, physical, and chemical properties.

Meera Mehta

Meera Mehta

Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, in association with Trinity.

Meera joins us from Manchester University, and will begin in January 2024. Her research interests span a broad range from main group synthesis to finding applications in catalysis and materials science, with much of her work focused on the design of group 14 and 15 main group clusters.

A very warm welcome to Michail, Michael, and Meera, and to all those who will be joining the Department as we begin the new academic year.
