Dr Jamie Wilmore completed his MChem at Trinity College, University of Oxford, completing his Part II (final year) project under the supervision of Dr Zoë Turner researching non-toxic bismuth-based catalysts for sustainable polymerisation reactions. He subsequently completed his DPhil at Oxford under the supervision of Prof. Paul Beer and Prof. Charlotte Williams FRS seeking to exploit the unique three-dimensional cavities in mechanically interlocked molecules for enhanced molecular sensing and catalysis. Following his DPhil, in early 2024, Jamie was awarded an EPSRC Doctoral Prize, enabling him to continue research into the uses of supramolecular chemistry, in particular halogen bonding, for the sensing of environmental pollutants.
During his DPhil and subsequent postdoc, Jamie delivered inorganic chemistry teaching at three of the university’s colleges, practical teaching in the department, and designed two of the department’s current outreach workshops. In August 2024 he was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and was appointed to his current role of Departmental Lecturer in Practical Chemistry in September 2024.
