Teaching

Matt works in the Chemistry Teaching Laboratory to help to deliver the practical course for the MChem degree. Matt works mainly with 2nd/3rd year undergraduate students, with a particular focus on inorganic chemistry. As part of the practical course, Matt aims to develop students’ practical and theoretical knowledge as well as their confidence, readying them for their future careers.

Biography

Matt completed his MChem degree from the University of Sussex. His final-year research project investigated the behaviour of ruthenium cyaphide complexes, working under the supervision of Dr Ian Crossley. Matt then moved to the University of Oxford and completed his DPhil under the supervision of Prof. Jose Goicoechea, investigating heteroatomic compounds with multiple bonds between the main-group elements. Matt was appointed to his current role as a Departmental Lecturer in 2024.
