Attendees of the recent training programme in public and community engagement with research.
As part of its commitment to researcher development and a culture of meaningful engagement, postdocs from across the Department of Chemistry recently completed a bespoke three-part training programme in public and community engagement with research (PCER).
Supported by the MPLS PCER Fellows Scheme, this tailored series helped participants deepen their understanding of how to contextualise their chemical sciences research and its societal connections, map and engage with relevant stakeholders, plan effective and purposeful engagement activities, and secure funding and recognition for their efforts.
One of the participants said: "The course built a holistic understanding of both executing engagement and its purpose."
Prof Andrew Goodwin, Associate Head of Department (Research) said: “By investing in this focused programme, the Department is proactively building capacity and embedding engagement skills at the heart of research practice, empowering postdocs to create more impactful science and stronger connections with society.”
