Anna Peacock is Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford. Her research lies at the interface of inorganic chemistry and protein design, where her group develops miniature proteins as next-generation ligands for synthetic inorganic chemistry, enabling precise control of metal ion structure and reactivity for applications ranging from catalysis to MRI contrast agent development. She grew up in The Netherlands and graduated with an MChem from the University of York, where she carried out her undergraduate research with Professors Robin Perutz FRS and Anne-Kathrin Duhme-Klair. She then moved to the University of Edinburgh, where she completed her PhD under the supervision of Professor Peter Sadler FRS. Following her doctorate, she undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan with Professor Vincent Pecoraro. In 2009, Anna joined the School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham, where she was promoted to Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry in 2025. Her contributions to the field have been recognised through several prestigious awards, including an EPSRC Open Fellowship and the EuroBIC 2026 Medal. In 2026, her research group moved to the University of Oxford.
