Dr Mark Ford completed his BSc at the University of York in 1998, with a year at RWTH Aachen working on microwave spectroscopy of ethylenediamine, under the supervision of Professor Wolfgang Stahl. He continued at York, completing his DPhil under the supervision of Professor Klaus Müller-Dethlefs, investigating rotational structure in high resolution (ZEKE) photoelectron spectroscopy. In 2003 Mark worked as a post-doctoral researcher under Professor Stuart Mackenzie, with research focussing on the reactions on small (3-20 atoms) Gas-Phase metal clusters. In 2007 Mark moved to Oxford, working with Professor Tim Softley, investigating the behaviours of Rydberg states as they approach a surface. In the subsequent years Mark was involved in tutorial teaching in Merton, Trinity, Wadham, St. Hilda’s and St. Hugh’s Colleges, while also being involved in laboratory teaching in both the PTCL labs, and more recently the CTL. Since 2024 was appointed as a Departmental lecturer in practical chemistry.
