Ben Rhodes, Part II student in the Ritchie group, has won a 2021 Salters’ Graduate Award. The Salters’ Graduate Awards are offered each year by the Salters’ Institute to final-year undergraduates studying at UK universities. Candidates are required to obtain a First-Class Honours degree in either chemistry or chemical engineering, and ten awards are made each year to outstanding candidates.
The Salters’ Institute judged that Ben had demonstrated excellent intellectual ability, a deep interest in chemistry and its impact on society, potential in leadership, an ability to work as part of a team, and the skills and attributes to become a future leader in his chosen field of carbon capture and storage as he embarks on a PhD at Cambridge studying new electrochemical methodologies for CO2 capture through the use of NMR spectroscopy.
Winners each receive £1000 and are presented with their award by the Master of the Salters’ Company. Ben’s award will be presented at the Institute Awards Ceremony, which will be held at Salters’ Hall in London in December 2021.
