Synthesis of dense porous layered double hydroxides from struvite

Synthesis of dense porous layered double hydroxides from struvite.

An atom economic synthesis of a new type of dense porous layered double hydroxides (SLDHs) using struvite which is a commonly produced undesirable waste in wastewater treatment plants is reported in new work by the O'Hare group. The obtained SLDHs exhibit high specific surface areas, large pore volumes, high particle density and high CO2 adsoprtion capability. This research has been highlighted as a hot article in an online rolling collection of the hottest work published in Green Chemistry.
