Oxford Chemistry teaching staff have been recognised by the Higher Education Academy in the latest round of professional awards. Dr Lucy Rowlands has been awarded Fellowship of the HEA and Junior Demonstrators Diana Berheci, Annabel Brunt, Tom Watts and Jamie Wilmore have all gained status as Associate Fellows of the HEA.
Their achievements build on the success of a recent pilot programme that enables teaching staff to achieve nationally recognised professional qualifications and gain recognition for their commitment and expertise. The latest cohort of students receiving accreditation takes the total number of Junior Demonstrators with Higher Education Academy accreditation to 12.
Dr Malcolm Stewart, Director of Teaching Laboratories, said: “This is great news for our students and staff and I’m delighted that Oxford Chemistry’s excellence in teaching has been recognised by the Higher Education Academy. Congratulations to all the successful candidates.”
Dr Zoe Smallwood, Training Lead Co-ordinator, said: "I am delighted to see more Junior Demonstrators and staff gaining recognition for their efforts and commitment to teaching and learning in the Department of Chemistry. Congratulations to all and thanks to the Centre for Teaching and Learning for their support."
